About the Business
After a short stint in teaching and a predictably unsuccessful bid to become a rock guitar legend, I became obsessed with woodwork. I completed a three year joinery course with distinctions in all subjects in 1980, then set up shop. I had no thought about the recession of that time, no business plan, in fact no idea about business at all. Just a crazy, burning desire to make things.
I feel very lucky that I had such a burst of passion and enthusiasm and I'm sure that's what helped me to get established. Thirty two years on, I'm still only interested in the making side of things but I will admit to not working on Saturday nights any more. Over the years I have produced all sorts of work including doors, sash windows, conservatories, an Art Nouveau shop front, a Chemist's shop, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, fitted and freestanding furniture, all through personal recommendation.
