About the Business
In 1972, I opened my first furniture showroom. I was determined to offer top quality bedroom furniture and beds at good value prices and to give my customers the highest possible service. This wasn't always easy as suppliers often didn't share my commitment to quality, delivering promptly and keen prices. I realised I could do better and in 1978 after three years of planning, the first Starplan factory, employing just 10 staff, was opened. We were at last able to guarantee the quality, delivery and prices in line with my original vision.
Word soon got around and we extended our factory, opening more showrooms throughout the country, but the area we continued to concentrate on was the quality and design. After 40 years in business my original priorities and vision haven't changed, but lots of other things have! We now have a 150,000 square foot purpose built factory, with state-of-the-art European machinery and a workforce of 150 people (we don't employ outside contractors).
