About the Business
Lion House Joinery was founded by Mark Hewitt in 1989 primarily to restore antique furniture and produce high quality hand made copies.
Later we expanded our portfolio of work to include all aspects of restoration, cabinetry and joinery by repairing the woodwork on the properties of our furniture clients, as a result we have moved to larger premises in the heart of the Suffolk countryside and invested in equipment in order to maintain our high standards of craftmanship.
Mark studied as a cabinet maker and furniture designer at the prestigious Rycotewood college in Oxfordshire, before training as an antique restorer with a leading antique dealer in Long Melford, Suffolk. Following what amounted to a five year apprenticeship where Mark refined and honed his skills in all aspects of restoration and cabinet making, he set up his own workshop near Bury St Edmunds, where we have built a reputation for high quality finishing and attention to detail.
