About the Business
Cheshire Furniture and Joinery Ltd is a family business that started trading in 1973 as L H Woodcraft. Originally housed in a three storey building in Romiley, Stockport situated on the canal front, the building used to be a old inn and the cellars in the building had been used for keeping the horses which pulled the barges along the canal.
L H Woodcraft specialised in bespoke made to measure furniture, but also did work for the Danish Furniture company Tamberg producing school desking for language labs, these were before computers became so readily available and each desk would have a special cassette player built in with headphones which was linked to the teacher.
In the early 90's L H Woodcraft was approached by John Kidd and Roger Stephenson OBE to produce a new range of office furniture and desking for a company that they had created called D3.
